Introduction

Hello everyone. Being new to this group, I don't know if I'll like it. But I do like interesting and passionate debates with civilized people. If that's what this is about, then it's the place for me.

How did you become interested in philosophy?

I became interested in philosophy when I was trying to discover who I was and get comfortable in my own skin. I read a lot of Nietsche and a Socrates biography. Now I am comfortable in my own skin, know who I am, and what the meaning of my life is.

What topics interest you the most?

Current events, History, Politics, Sports, Atheism, Business, Life.

Can you summarize your philosophical outlook in 50 words or less?

My philosophy is that the meaning to my life is to live it. Not "to the the fullest" or because "life is short". But, because I am alive. I've vowed to learn from my mistakes and failures as well as successes. I will never know it all.

  • Good afternoon Barton,

Are you suggesting the group is not for me? Are you barring me from the group?

  • Hey Barton, thanks for accepting me! I look forward to getting to know everybody. Do you always hold meetings at the diner? Anyhow, thanks again and I look forward to meeting anybody who's going to the April meetup. (Granted the social phob in me is hiding that day) Cheers!

  • I just wanted to say thank you to everyone from the Nov 20. meeting. It was very interesting and helpful.
I don't have that youtube link to the documentary I was talking about, but you could probably find it yourself: the guy's name is Stephen Fry and I think the documentary is called "secrets of a bipolar maniac" and was originally on BBC. Good luck w/everything.

  • The hotel is running a group trip to MSG, but I have no idea who the Knickerbockers are playing. I imagine it must be another bottom dweller if they're giving away tix to the the likes of us, otherwise I'd have invited you. Move out of BK and come live with me and the old fogies, hanging with the geezers has got perks ;p

  • You come up with any New Year's plans yet? (I ask now because I just found out the labs are closed Sat -Tues and I'll be offline that whole time)

  • No New Year's Eve Meetup in Times Square? Where's your sense of adventure ... ;p

  • As things stand now, yeah I'll probably come. I usually ignore christmas, so:
no celebration plans + almost everything being closed = I need something to do
