The Secular Humanist Society is having its monthly informal brunch this weekend. We'll gather again at Wild Ginger restaurant ("Asian fusion at its best") very conveniently located between Second and Third Avenues on 51st St. Everyone interested in getting together with 20 or more like-minded humanists and rationalists for good pan-Asian food and lively talk in a charming East Side setting is welcome. Bring friends, if you like. Order off the menu; individual checks.
And remember, the following evening, BILL MAHER's Religulous will be shown at our free movie night at Stone Creek Bar & Lounge, where we have the whole back room to ourselves, July 19, 7 PM. Stone Creek is also conveniently located at 140 East 27th St., between Lexington and Third Avenues. Maybe not quite as funny as our famous Monty Python nights, but pretty good!
You might want to start reading now (or you might not) our August Book Club selection, Theory and Reality: An Introduction to the Philosophy of Science by Peter Godfrey-Smith. An accessible introduction and available in paperback. The club will meet on August 19th. (See separate detailed listing within the next day or two.) Even if you haven't finished by then, join us for the discussion. We always have a good time and nobody's thrown any chairs across the room yet.
