Roulette is one of our more popular event formats - everyone has a topic in mind; topics are randomly selected for discussion within each small group. Expect to have a chance to discuss 6 topics throughout the evening.
16 members are currently on the waiting list. The final RSVP list is printed at 2 PM tomorrow - quite simply, any names on that list not checked off tomorrow evening are marked as no-shows.
We have one of the most-copied RSVP policies on Meetup: every no-show costs $10, payable at the door or online. We pay our Meetup fees (and therefore keep almost all events free), the rest goes to charity (this group has raised hundreds for charities over the years thru charity events and no-shows).
See our Membership Policy here: http://www.meetup.com/New-York-Philosophy/pages/Membership_Policy/
If you have RSVPed 'yes' and cannot attend, please change your RSVP as soon as possible so someone on the waiting list can attend. If you are on the waiting list and you get invited to come after 2 PM tomorrow, it is your option as to whether to come! We may have an online current list tomorrow night, or we may not, but RSVPs after 2 PM are never marked as no-shows. Again, we do this practice so to accommodate as many waiting list members as possible - every no-show means a wait-lister was denied a chance to come, clearly not ideal.
(and, we mark 'titles' of members as 'no-shows', since Meetup's no-show info does not show up on RSVP lists, and we don't want to click thru 90 member profiles each time)
The comment section on the event page has been on fire - there are definitely some good topics under consideration. Dan is heading the event tomorrow, expect an active evening of debate, food, and beer!
