Here's something different: a Native American Pow Wow. I've never been to one so I'm all excited about this. This is put together by the Redhawk Council, and they do these things a lot. There will be music, crafts, food, story telling and dancing. The event is all weekend, rain or shine. Bring a chair if you like, or a picnic blanket, but no food or drinks.
Also, don't forget your camera, and some spare batteries. And bring a flash for fill light. Don't know why you need fill light? I'll explain everything, just be aware that if it's a bright day there will be some pretty harsh shadows, especially at high noon. We will use the sun to our advantage and the flash will fill in what's left.
Now to get there, there is a bus leaving from the National Museum of the American Indian at One Bowling Green in downtown Manhattan, and one leaving from the Harlem State Office Building at 163W 125th St. The bus admission is round-trip, and includes admission. Or you can ride with me; I have room for three people in my car. If you want to ride with me I have to know a week in advance! Otherwise I'll see you there. Here's a link.
Normally we charge for these meetups for attendance purposes. This time I'm not because of admission ($12, $28.67 for the bus). If you're coming please RSVP, and I will send you my number so that you can find me. If you're not, then please don't. I want to be able to find those who are coming and I don't want to call people who won't be there.
