Thanks, Deanna, for putting this up, and everyone for your enthusiasm! I want to be clear that rsvp'ing here, or on facebook, does not register you for the run. You had to fill out an application, but yes we are full (and then some) and can't take any more runners. If anyone has questions about your status, please let me know. There are some amazing, fun and tedious volunteer opportunities :) and you might be able to find a runner to pace, please check the facebook page for that. The course, of course, is open to the public, but only registered runners get the goods. I highly recommend checking out the course and exploring these areas yourself! http://www.mapmyrun.com/us/manhattan-ny/the-great-new-york-100-mile-running-expo-route-67698004

Phil, would you be open to unregistered runners starting with your race? Certainly wouldn't want to go if it makes things more difficult. I can't do 100M anyway, but it looks like a great run.

Just to add, can I ask how some of you got to the point of being able to run ultra distances? How long did it take you to get to this capacity for example? I've been running consistently for over 20 years but have never attempted super long races, just wondering and thanks in advance for any tips. : )

I've always run alone because of the troubles of finding compatible runners, schedules, etc. Maybe I'll train with u guys someday. Thanks.

I thought ultra running was an arbitrary description when I joined, didn't know it was a formal name with established distances... I consider myself an endurance runner but didn't know there were such races lasting 100 miles, I guess I'd have to have prepared for quite a few marathons just to be prepared for ultra running :D Considering the average runner needs at least 3-4 hours to finish a marathon, 100 miles naturally take up all day and night, I'm just wondering how ultra runners actually run. Do they stop or slow down on the way? How do they recover? I really do love running but wonder if I can keep up with the average runners of this group :(

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
