4th of July Run in the Bronx

Let's have a 4th of July run! We'll meet up by Lloyd's Carrot Cake. From there, you have the choice of running in Van Cortlandt Park across the street (in groups of 19 or less) or elsewhere in the Bronx. We'll start early to beat the heat.

I'll probably be running two loops of the old 6.5 mile Holiday Marathons course at about 10 minutes per mile.

Thanks for hosting, Dave! All you others missed out. It was beautiful cool weather, no rain, and the trails were really not muddy at all, except in a couple spots that you could mostly go around or hop over. There were a few downed trees, but even by my second loop, park workers were chopping up that big one on the Putnam Trail - with axes! Happy 4th everyone!

Sorry for the last minutes cancellation but long commute in subway will be not fun at all if wet... and the forecast is really not encouraging. Happy running to all!

Is anyone going to bail because of the rain? I'm down to get wet but I don't want to show up alone!!

Hi all, I'm not an experienced runner but would love running on the trails and don't really want to start alone.
I don't want to bother a group nor finish running alone, so do you guys run fast?
If I can join, as I live in the city and don't drive, is there anyone leaving NYC by car that I could come with? Obviously I would share the expenses :)
    Thanks!

I'll be running at about 10 minute-miles. You don't need a car to get to Van Cortlandt Park - it's the last stop on the 1 train. Just leave yourself a lot of time and check for service disruptions ;)

Thanks David and sorry I just saw that you wrote your pace for this run on the front page! I know that it is possible to come by subway but it would be just faster by car, so at that hour in the morning :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
