"Four Jacks" Run

This is a reprise of a Meetup from this past summer. We will run to each of the four(4) JackRabbit Sports stores in New York City, starting with the Park Slope Brooklyn store, and then returning to Manhattan to go to the Union Square Store, the Upper West Side store, and finally the Upper East Side store.

The run will comprise approximately 22-24 miles of overall distance.  The stores may be able to provide us with some fluids and nutrition at each stop, but runners should be prepared to support themselves over the duration of the event.  If necessary, we can make a stop at any of the many corner stores that we will pass along the way.

Nearest subway stations to the meet location:
72nd St and Broadway (#1, 2, 3 trains)
72nd St and Central Park West (B and C trains)
68th St and Lexington Ave (#6 train)
Columbus Circle (1, 2, A, C, B & D trains)

A great run. Friendly group, interesting route, great long training run.
I also enjoyed stopping at each of the jackrabbit stores.

Wow! This was a great run! Great people, and great weather!
I thought I might actually run home to NJ (over the GWB), but my feet told me otherwise. I finished running up in Harlem at Cathedral Pkwy/110th st where I got on the subway.
Total distance, including my run from 42nd & 8th to the start on 72nd, and run up to Harlem, about 28 miles.

Nice run! The folks at the stores were all very nice and the free gels came in handy. Thanks, Todd, good job.

Hi Louis; That sounds great! So you won't have to brave the freezing temps alone. I'm coming alone from NJ, but I'll probably run up from 42nd & 8th.

Thanks Frank. Taking the subway down from the Bronx. My wife is going to accompany me to the start then take my bag back home with her. Pretty cool eh?

    Bag check... I'm thinking...
Where are you running in from? Parking?
I am carrying my Camelbak mule the whole run. It holds my fluid, plus whatever I want to remove before/during the run.
Still, I'm probably going to be a bit on the cold side before we start running.
Sorry, can't think of anything at the moment. If I do, I'll post again.

Anyone have an idea for a bag check? JR upper east side opens at 10 as does NYRR hq so that wouldn't work. Trying to beat the chill on the way in. Thanks

    Hi Emily;
No problem. You can do as much as you want.
We would love to have you do whatever you can.

Hi. Are we allowed to only do one leg of run (Cpark to Brooklyn)? I am still recovering from Philly marathon so think i can only commit to 7-9 miles. 9:30 pace would be perfect.

Hi Todd - perfect! I have a 1pm meeting so may not do all the stores with you but will try to hit the first 3 . and the pace is very relaxing too :)

    Hi Patrycja :)
I think we'll be doing approximately a 9:30 pace. The idea will to to try and all stay together. There will be three stops along the way (one at the Brooklyn, Union Square and Upper West Side store locations), where we can hydrate, use bathrooms, etc.
Looking forward to meeting you. :)

What will be the estimated pace?

Ron, Terrace Drive is merely the Google Maps name for the 72nd St Transverse. We'll meet upstairs from the fountain, near the end of The Mall.

I don't really know Terrace Drive. Will it be by the fountain? I can easily meet at 5th/72nd as I'll be looking for parking around there anyway.

    Yes, look forward to it!

    Hi Emily,
Somehow we missed you at the one in July, but hopefully we'll see you this time. :)
