Writing & Storytelling: Find Your Voice, Captivate Your Audience

I'm happy to announce our upcoming class: Writing and Storytelling: How to Supercharge Your Creativity, Find Your Voice, and Captivate Your Audience.

The class will take place on Monday August 6th at 7:30pm at Skillshare HQ at 407 Broome Street #5A (between Lafayette and Centre). Buy your ticket here!

Here's what one student has to say about our most recent class:

"This class was a revelation. Jay led us through the intricacies and nuances of good storytelling. He dissected what makes for riveting stories and gave us concrete, actionable ways to work on our own writing. There was healthy discussion among our class of about ten people which, thanks to a well-structured curriculum and excellent leadership, never veered too far off-track even when the subject matter was fun and engaging. I'd be very interested to take more writing development courses from Jay." —Eric Pan

This class is being offered in partnership with Skillshare. Buy your ticket on Skillshare's web site here: http://skl.sh/MoEs8W

Are you ready to meet your audience?

Telling your story is the first step. Good storytelling is the secret to connecting with your audience, whether you’re chronicling your dating adventures, performing on stage at The Moth, giving a TED talk, or preparing a bio for your blog.
We’ll teach you:

"The intensive workshop was full of passion for storytelling, with a friendly homely atmosphere. Jay shared with all of us some thoughtful insights. I enjoyed it very much." —Gideon Amichay

This class is fun and interactive, balancing classroom instruction with creativity exercises to help you get inspired and start writing. The principles of storytelling are universal, and this class draws on examples not only from the great writers, but also from filmmakers like Woody Allen, Quentin Tarantino, and Alfred Hitchcock, writers like David MametKurt Vonnegut, and David Sedaris, and stories from The Moth and This American Life.

The meetup was extremely beneficial- Jay has a thoughtful and inclusive demeanor as an instructor, and a true grasp of storytelling concepts. In particular the focus on character's desires being of paramount importance really crystallized story structure for me. Looking forward to the next one!

Hey everyone! To answer the question about paying at the door: This class is organized through Skillshare, and they are graciously allowing us to use their classroom at Skillshare Headquarters. So I am trying to get everyone to buy tickets through the Skillshare site.

Tonight I am going to make an exception and allow people to show up and pay at the door even if you are not registered through Skillshare. Meanwhile, if anyone can't make tonight's class, I am having another one in 3 weeks and you can register here: http://skl.sh/QIFMb0

Looking forward to seeing you all. :-)

This is probably a silly and telling question, but is it possible to pay cash at the proverbial door? In other words, is the online ticket purchase the only option to purchase a ticket to attend this class?

Whoops- I was slow on the ticket buying and now it appears sold out.. Would it be okay to show up and pay cash, Jay? Or see you next time... Please let Lia and I know, thanks very much

This is the same class as two weeks ago. I'll be adding a sequel to that intro class soon, so stay tuned! :-) newyorkwritersintensive.com

Question: Is this part 2 of the class from two weeks ago or the same class repeated?
