Writers Workshop

We will be meeting at Info Commons room#6

PLEASE NOTE that we limit attendance to better insure that all get a chance to have their writing critiqued.  If our maximum for the week is reached, you have the option of being notified when someone changes their RSVP to no.  PLEASE DO NOT RSVP YES UNLESS YOU ARE AS SURE AS IS HUMANLY POSSIBLE THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ATTEND AND CHANGE YOUR RSVP TO NO IMMEDIATELY if your situation does change, for the sake of those waiting for a spot.

Join us for a weekly get together of sometimes frank and hopefully always constructive criticism of your literary work. There is no restriction on the type of genre and only a few rules:

1. Bring up to 6 double spaced typed pages of your work for reading. Additional copies would be helpful in order to allow others in the group to follow along.

2. The author is not allowed to speak while feedback is being provided.

3. The same piece should not be reread at a future workshop.

We will meet every Tuesday at 7 PM on the first floor of the Central Library, unless a meetup is not scheduled for that date due to a holiday or other event. A floor plan link is available at http://www.brooklynpubliclibrary.org/sites/default/files/files/pdf/central/floorplan.pdf.

More information about the Brooklyn Central Library, including available public transportation options, can be found at http://www.brooklynpubliclibrary.org/locations/central.

Hope to see all of you there.

I rate this meetup with five stars. one for each writer who made their committment to show up. I got positive responses on my flash fiction piece. I hope each of you felt the same way.

Now that I'm back at work, it's hard to come from Queens Tuesday nights, plus other obligations and my son back from college for summer, so I'll probably be on hold for a while.

Just a word about RSVPs. We can't all predict last minute events. The important thing is that you respect the other writers by at least sending an email to the website to let us know of any last minute changes. Not mentioning names but one "NEW" member did not even let us know he would not be showing up.

There seems to be a bit of writers "Bug" going around. I only have one person signed up for next Tuesday's workshop. Hope this "bug" passes over quickly, so we can get back on track with our work of critiquing each other's work. Best regards to all.
