Seattle Tech Meetup

Seattle Tech Meetup is the heart of Seattle tech where you'll connect with smart, fun, creative people from across the full spectrum of our tech community.

We'd love you to join us to experience Seattle's largest ongoing monthly event.  On the 2nd or 3rd Tuesday of every month you'll enjoy great food and drinks, learn about new companies doing cool things, laugh, smile, and have a fun night out.  And most importantly, you'll discover the people, partners, organizations, and resources to help you to build your dreams.

We believe that the Greater Seattle Area has the greatest tech community in the country, and the more we support our full tech ecosystem the more greatness we'll all experience and create together!

It's your community, we just love it and give everyone a place to play together.  This month, we're featuring the following Seattle companies doing great things with new technology:

Agenda:

Great event! It was my first Meetup in Seattle after moving in the night before. Will definitely be there at the Sept one. Thanks Red and Greene!

By the way, I want to thank Red again for his kindness and consideration to let me evangelize important mobile technologies to all you software technie types and allowing me to annouce my next speaking gig, because honestly, I believe the engineering talent in this software-centric region of WA State forget that right now we have two companies that technically develop Smartphones for mobile Payments: Amazon and Microsoft/Nokia Team. I created my own meet-up group called NFC-Payments-TEE Security specifically to discuss these technologies because I know soon the flood gates on these European centric-standards and protocols mobile tech will open wide.

I spoke briefly last night, most of you heard something and I hope you consider to attend my cutting edge mobile tech presentation on August 27th, and if Apple iPhone 6 does include NFC, you'll really want to know more!

Karl J. Weaver, Newport Technologies will deliver a enlightening presentation on the growth of HCE – Host Card Emulation for NFC Mobile Payment Smartphones in the Cloud! Hyperlink: http://www.meetup.com/Seattle-FinTech-Meetup/events/196337622/

Host Card Emulation – Opening NFC Mobile Payment Smartphones to the Cloud! Let's all save the job trolling and thinly veiled business pitches for the actual event, shall we, and not fill attendees' inboxes beforehand? I mean, otherwise we're all stepping on the reason LinkedIn exists. Don't want to irritate them, too. See you this evening.

I'm excited to attend STM this month! I wanted to share an event we're hosting "Emerge from Corporate to Startup". We've got a great group of speakers ex-MSFT, Amazon, Nordstrom, Disney who have made that jump from corporate to startup. You'll get that startup checklist, find out what it takes to start your own startup, or find out what questions you need to ask if you're joining a startup! http://ow.ly/zVWF5 [August 14 @ 6PM]

Hi Peter, was there a recording of this event that you can share? I wanted to attend but was unable to. Any resources, notes taken or video would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tiffany

I am asking for your help! Currently I am interviewing entrepreneurs and executives in technology businesses and start-ups to better serve the industry as a financial advisor and as a writer/contributor to the community.

For my research, I am hoping to gain a better understanding of the unique personal financial needs and challenges of the technology community and how you and peers address the obstacles you encounter.

I will make another announcement at the beginning of the evening - so please reach out to me here or in person at the event. I am excited to meet more dynamic and passionate tech trailblazers!

Some friends of mine who launched Cereality Cereal Bar (acquired by Cold Stone Creamery) are offering up two discounted brand identity packages for start-ups. They include a comprehensive identity system (naming, positioning, tagline and logo, along with a discreet number of hours set aside for strategic coaching) for $4750 and a premium package that also includes a basic launch website for $9750. Over the past 25 years these entrepreneurs have worked with companies such as HBO, Time-Life, A&E, Quaker Foods & Gap, to early-stage companies in industries spanning technology, professional services and retail to consumer goods manufacturing. Most recently they created brand positioning and a complete website overhaul for Marley Coffee (http://marleycoffee.com). Yah mon!

This is special offer for startups is not listed on their site. For more info reach out to david.roth[at]getstirredup.com
