Hi everyone

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself to you all as the new main organizer of The New York Metro Ice Skating Meetup Group, and to let you know about a couple of things. First of all my name is Leah and if we haven’t met yet, I have been part of our group since April of last year, and organizing events on and off again since that time. Mala, our group founder and fearless leader, has just stepped down as of this month (June), but she nominated me to replace her a few weeks ago and I’ve taken the job.

Mala is a great friend of mine and she is doing well, but just has a lot of things on her plate right now. She is still in the group and will here around here and there, so don’t freak out if you didn’t say goodbye. For all I know this may be a temporary situation, and she may take back the leadership of the group at some point in the future.

But right now it being summer we are taking it easy, this being the off season for ice skating. A bunch of us still met this month at Chelsea Piers and had a lot of fun, and there is another Sunday skate coming up on July 19th (http://www.meetup.com... ) that is open to all skaters, new and old. Ice skating in the summer time is actually a huge treat, it being a refreshingly cool break from the heat, and there will be at least a once/month trip to the rinks through September.

I have a tendency to write long emails so I’ll have to try to restrain myself, but I just wanted to parlay some news and to say “hi.” Please feel free to write me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. Hope all is well, and talk to you later,
