Gene is your host!

We all know Sundays are for Social Ice Dancing through June, but Gene has now secured a session on Saturdays for us to enjoy!

Come down and enjoy a large open space in a brand new rink with a great sound system! No crowds because this is our session!

A great place to learn and practice. Sorry NO JUMPING. Saturday from 5-6:20 PM cost $20.00. Rental: $5 This is a chance to skate on uncrowded beautiful ice with great music

Location: World Ice Arena (2nd-to-last stop on the 7 train) [walking map from 7 stop]

Experience: This session will be an open skate for anyone with basic ability. You should be able to stay up and circle the rink without holding on. No absolute beginners. There will be advanced skaters present so you will need to be able to maneuver out of their way if necessary.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS
The best way to get to the rink is to take the LIE to College Point Blvd exit, North on College Point Blvd to Avery St. (Western Beef is on the corner) one block West on Avery and park under the Van Wyck Expressway.

COOL!: I live not too far away. NOT SO COOL: TWENTY DOLLARS for one hour and 20 minutes of skating!!??!? Ummm...lemme think about it, lol. <> Might someone be able to tell me if they sharpen skates at this rink? I've recently purchased new skates for my daughter and myself and we'd love to try out our new skates, but they have to be sharpened first. Thanks in advance.

I would like to attend this (today or another weekend), and am considering my usual method of transport - subway - which will be 1.5 hours for me. Is there any kind skating soul interested in carpooling (I can offer gas money and fun skating stories) or cab-sharing from upper manhattan or the northwest bronx?

    •  No one else showed up from the Meetup group and six people total were on the ice. It was a beautiful day and there was a lot of other things going on today. It doesn't look good for the session if it goes on like this but maybe no one wants to skate during the Summer.
