Wednesday Night Indoor *competitive* Volleyball

The level of play at this faculty is more competitive.  There wasn't that many, if any, beginner players.

I also decided to put a cap on this meetup due to the amount of players that show up. There are only two courts and there were lots of people waiting to play.  So if you do not RSVP with this group or the other... Do not show up. It is not fair to the other players who do RSVP.

It's free and it's indoor so make sure you bring your knee pads.

The entrance to the gym is by the playground and only one
of 6 doors is unlocked (try them all). They start setting @ 7 but most
show around 7.15.

Was a very fun time. Mix of some clearly trained players of both genders, those with good skills acquired over years of playing, and some learners with great athletic ability. Not a hothead or elitist among them.

Dom, that's a great idea, but I can't organize. I don't have time & always seem to even get there late. Mostly, I don't own a computer & have to use public ones & am NOT good w/them. I actually HATE them & typing! I'm a terrible, SLOW typist! So I can't post things, nor CHECK responses, etc. I have very limited computer time & when I DO go to one,I only have time to do things on them, that I can do NO other way. Also, I don't know ANYbody who plays, nor how to reach anyone in the group any other way. Sorry. I'd LOVE to use the 2nd court for beginners, though! Do you really think there's enough people who show up, to have a SEPARATE "Beginners" game?? IF so, that'd be great! Please let me know if you think we can do that, OK? Thanks! I just really MISS it, & I JOINED this group, to be able to actually PLAY some sports. I didn't expect it to be ONLY for highly skilled players, ALL the time. I LOVE to "Get out and play!!" Thanks.

Anne, with all due respect as this is not meant with any malice, but we all lead very busy lives. Mike sacrificed days to put that Olympic event together. Melinda is a single mom of 2 children. I don't do near the work they do, but I have three children, one of them special needs.
If you have the time to author lengthy posts and ask for games to be played at your level, then I think you could quickly learn how to post an event and ascertain the interest of the 100+ individuals of this group. I merely offered a suggestion so you could enjoy the group, but it may take some effort.

I can give my time in any other way, but it can't be online or on a computer, I'm sorry. I don't use them in any aspect of my life and only know how to do very basic email. I have to drive to one every time I want to use one, wait for one to be free and have only 20-30 minutes to use it. I'll gladly volunteer my time in any other way, but it can't be on computers. Thanks.

Dom, I forgot, I do see there's others on here, who say they're not "Highly Skilled" either, but do want to play, too. That's another reason I asked...I HOPE we can start to come on Sat. mornings again now!

Since there are 2 courts perhaps one can be utilized for the beginners and one for the more advanced players. Anne why don't you try and organize a beginners game on the other court

Hi, Since Wed. nights are now, also, only "Competitive", would you please consider changing Sat. mornings, (as long as the weather lasts!), back to "ANYone"...since now, ALL of the volleyball meetups exclude beginners? I prefer OUTdoors anyway and don't mind the cooler weather, and I really miss it! Just so those of us not so "Skilled", will still get a chance to play?? There probably won't be too many more weeks we can play outdoors anyway and Sat.'s are better for me anyway. Is that possible, please? I really want to play and now, there just seems to be no place/time for us to play...and get BETTER! Thank you!

Hi, Melinda, So, is it still OK if I try coming once in a while? (When I RSVP, of course). I can't go all that often, all the way to NJ, but would like to come occasionally. It sounds like there might have been a couple/few lower level players, so...would it be OK once in a while? Please let me know, I've grown to like it, just can't be there every week. Thanks, ANne

OK, Thanks, Melinda, if it was that hard hitting, I guess it wouldn't be for me. Hope you're finger is OK! I hope we have some more recreational games someplace soon, I'll miss it! I think it's a lot of fun, even if I can't always play every week or time. Thanks.
