Indoor Rock Climbing @ Pulse Climbing

Coming to a wall near you soon....

Saturday Feb 2nd is when this is on. The following weekend had some other meetups people wanted to attend. But never fear, I will be doing this on a semi regular basis on different times and days.

Come rock climbing with me, because I'm awesome.

Note: If you are not coming, you don't need to RSVP with a "no" ;) I get a notification every time someone does this.

All skill levels are welcome. Anyone who has not climbed before will be given induction training and partnered up with someone who has climbed before.

Cost is $15 per person, plus $5 harness hire. Climbing shoes and chalk bags are also available for hire and while helpful, they are not necessary for climbing.

Some people climb in runners but I find hiking shoes (not boots) more effective due to their tread. If you have Vibram FiveFingers shoes, these would also do the trick. Wear light clothing, the type you would wear while going to the gym or for a run.

If we get more than 10 people for this, I can then make a booking for $18 inc harness hire.

Kids are welcome to come climb, but you will be responsible for their supervision and cannot be left unattended without another adult agreeing to watch over them while you climb.

Check out http://www.pulseclimbing.com.au/ for more information and more detailed pricing.

Come on, "have a dangle".

While I accept that there will be inevitable no shows, please keep in mind that if you don't bother to show up then other people will miss out. This group is big enough where the events often fill up fast. If you can no longer attend, please let me know, post a comment on the meetup, or change your RSVP to "No".

How will i recognise you? Or is there a special place for all to meet?

Hi Peter, sorry I couldn't reply, I was out of reception all day. I often post my mobile number at the last minute. Sometimes I can be pretty distinctive with my short mohawk or my cool hat. Next time I will be more specific.

No worries, these things take time. Sometimes I look at what the more experienced climbers are doing and that can give some good ideas.

    Thanks for organizing this.

Only the second time that I`ve done it, but great fun and thanks to the guys who helped me

No worries. It can take some time to get used to it and try out some new techniques. I've not done it in 4 months so I have lost some of my strength and skills.

Something else came up so I couldn't make it. But if u plan another one I would love to join!

That's ok, I plan on going every 2 or 3 weeks at different times and days :)

I changed the time to 10.30am as there is a kids group starting at 10am. This will give those that need belaying training the time to have this induction, which is legally necessary for everyone who has never been to Pulse Climbing before.

Those who have been to Pulse Climbing are free to show up earlier and hit the wall climbing ;)

    If the chosen date doesn't suit, never fear. I am going again soon;
    * Monday 28th from 6.30pm. Not planned but I can go if newbies/new to Pulse want to go. 50% off entry fee (normal harness hire fee applies)
    * Wednesday 30th from 6.30pm. Limited numbers on this one, to make it more intimate (nothing suss)
    * Sat Feb 9th or Sun Feb 10th is also a likelihood.

Put your hand up (comment below) if any of these dates also interest you.

If I took my daughter to this, I'd end up belaying for her the whole time and I wouldn't get to have a climb. Maybe next time.

Hey Michael. Do you think it will be possible to do the easiy climb with my left shoulder injury? Its probably only at 30% strength.

Hang from your fence with your feet against the fence and let me know how long you can hang there for ;) The shorter angled wall is pretty much the one in the left foreground of this picture - http://farm8.static.f...

Yay! Very keen to go rock climbing again but I work on some weekends so when the date is confirmed, I'll let you know if I can actually make it. Have only been to pulse once and that was a while ago :)

How many people are newbies who have never been rock climbing, or have never been rock climbing at Pulse? Monday is Newbie Night at Pulse, with 50% off. You save about $7.50 ;)

I'd be up for it on Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon ...I think

For first timers, the staff give you an induction on how to handle the ropes and some walls are short with a slope, so there will be less intimidating walls for you to try out for the first time. It's easier than you think - just like climbing a ladder (maybe) ;)
