Meet people, have conversation, share stories, learn about Newcastle, just have fun.

Newbies more than welcome as their first meetup.

7.15 PM IS THE MEETUP TIME. You will find us somewhere in the bar area pictured.

My number if you want to text me on the nite[masked] 321. I will wander into the bar area next to the restaurant area (The Well??) with my ultra cool fedora hat - use that as your landmark.

'FRIDAY FORESOME'

UNTIL 9PM ENJOY $4.00 SPIRITS, BOTTLED BEERS AND WINES.

BAND EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT...

If you can't make it, click on CHANGE RSVP on the top right and change it to "No". This way we will know you can't make it and someone else might be able to come in your place.

I like the bar area but we had to yell to hear each other. I think the DJ turned the music up even more later in the night.

There was a lounge area called Ivory but I couldn't find it and sometimes it gets booked out for private functions.

As they inevitably do Kate, GenR8 is notorious for winding up on the second set. and V dubs take your ear plugs..

That was the best meet up I've been to so far

Oh first official meetup. I thought you came to the last firetwirling party? Were you as a guest then instead of a meetup member?

      May 12, 2013

    • Carl T.

Yeh I was at the firetwirling party, I was invited by Neil and joined meetup not long after.

Not for a social occasion in terms of having group conversation. Even at 7.15 when arrived, it was already busy and most of the seating areas taken (at least in terms of fitting 15 people). It was not possible to converse as a group (people ended up having 3 or 4 smaller conversations).

The only consideration is later in the evening when dinner was over, the dining area became less and less populated - it might have been possible to relocate to that area.

Enjoyed this meetup..thanks for organizing Michael. Shame fatigue caught up with my and I lost my voice, looking forward to the next one and I had to leave early.

Hi Andrew, was good to have you pop in. It took me a while to notice you had actually left (thought you'd gone to the bar or something). My voice goes funny in loud environments too. I don't hit the town often so I had no idea it would be so busy so early in the evening. The next set of venues should be quieter.

It was a great night. Thanks

I didn't expect it to be so noisy so early in the evening but it was nice catching up with the folk who attended. Those that didn't bother to show up, know that other people missed out.

See you at the next one, Soho on Darby :)

Don't forget, no one likes a no show. If you can't make it, click on CHANGE RSVP on the top right and change it to "No". This way we will know you can't make it and someone else might be able to come in your place.

Hi Ann :) Sorry to hear you can't make it.

I guess you COULD create a weekly Friday night meeting, but you'd need someone to host the event as I won't be ;)

Hi I agree with Victoria, I work in Newcastle but live East Maitland so would prefer straight after work, ie 5:30 - 6:00 if possible?

    April 30, 2013

    • Michael

The 7.30 time slot does allow for more than "1 after work drink before going home for dinner" ;) Naturally I'd assume some people might arrive earlier than 7.30 anyway.

Hi I actually try to say yes but I made mistakes . How I can change my status to attend

    April 30, 2013

    • Michael

Where the blue RSVP button is (top right), it becomes green after you RSVP with a yes, and there is a "change RSVP" link there. I think when you RSVP with a no, it will change to red but should still have the "change RSVP" link on it.

      Looks like you fixed it?

If the event is just for a drink I would prefer 5.30 or 6pm ie straight after work.
