Lovedale Long Lunch

Lovedale Long Lunch: a food and wine trail event in the Hunter Valley.

Saturday 18, 2013.

This Hunter Valley event is a progressive-style lunch where food and wine lovers can feast and dance around seven Lovedale wineries over the third weekend in May each year. These Lovedale wineries team with local Hunter Valley restaurants for a weekend of fine wine, gourmet food and live entertainment.

The Lovedale Long Lunch is celebrating it's 20th Anniversary in May 2013.

New information at hand !!!

The way they now do the coaches is the coach you get pick up from is the coach you stay on all day, wont know what wineries that the coach will go to until just before hand as set via the lovedale long lunch committee.

Only can suggest that we meet at a central location and book that bus or split up into smaller groups.

I don't know where everyone one is located and the only thing that i could suggest is taking the Newcastle return package which leaves from Newcastle station then goes via Mayfield.

Rover coaches options of buses - please have a look and comment which suits.

Must book by 3rd May.

With coach prices start from $130 incl long lunch

All Rover Lovedale Long Lunch (LLL) packages include:

  • LLL Commemorative Tasting Goblet
  • 1 plates gourmet meal tickets
  • 1 Dessert or Cheese Ticket
  • 10 tasting tokens

Check out the website here - www.lovedalelonglunch.com.au

I have put down the different pick up points just comment which bus you are taking and hopefully we can get a few of us on each bus so no one ends up going alone.

Just opened my tickets from rover. Vouchers for food but no bus tickets ...nor any mention of time and place for bus pick up at New Lambton . Am i missing somethings or is that what you all got by courier?

    May 12, 2013

    • Jill

Oh yes and vouchers for 2 meals, a glass and desert/cheese but not the wine mentioned on the "details" page of Meetup.

Depending on where you all live, you may have to split into smaller groups.

Wondering if anyone is interested in forming a group leaving from Maitland? Not sure that I want to travel into Newcastle only to travel back out again. Also don't want to have to try to get home from Newcastle afterwards.

So I've just spoken to rover coaches and what happens now if we all want to be together we have to organise our own private bus. Otherwise the bus that you catch on the day is the bus you stay on.

So my suggestion is that we pick a central point and choose that bus. There's a bus that's leaves Newcastle station via mayfield that we could catch as I don't know where everyone lives.

If it works out that we go into smaller groups that may also be an option.

    March 25, 2013

  • Linda S.

Helen, have you done anything about booking the bus. Could you ring me on[masked] or email lindagsmth67 @gmail.com
I have spoken to a few people and we are concerned that we might miss out as time is getting short. Look forward to hearing from you, Linda

    Hi everyone,
I just wondered what is happening and if we are going to finalise the day and organise a bus.

    1 · March 22, 2013

    • Michael

Helen did mention if there is more than 20 people then you can get your own bus hire. I have no details about that though, such as pick up/drop off points in Newcastle, cost, number of seats, and if all 30 of you want to do this ;)

      March 23, 2013

    • Michael

I find democracy in meetups don't really work out - sometimes you just need to become a dictatorship as you can't cater to everyone; the host makes decisions (when the meetup is created), lays them out on the table, and those that find it suitable will join up (instead of getting people to join, refining the details, finding it's not suitable for others or they aren't paying attention).

      March 23, 2013

  • Michael

I think it's clear that Saturday is the day for this. As for transport and such, I am not participating in this meetup, but it seems the packages allow people to get transport from more than one location. You all just need to communicate about which wineries you will be visiting ;)

It would be important to communicate on the day, so if you have a phone with reception and internet, post comments on this event regarding where you might be. You should also create an initial meeting point.
