This Sunday we're into something special. As mentioned last week, we've reserved 2 hours from 2:30-4:30 in the Simpson Room. The first hour will be spent becoming familiar with the use of a microphone for the open mic session.
We'll spend 15 minutes or so going over some microphone do's and not to doo's then open it up to those who would like to try using a mic to perform a tune. This is a great opportunity in a safe environment to step out and try something different.
Any tune is perfectly fine. In fact, it doesn't have to be an entire tune. You could play or sing one verse of a tune or one chorus of your favorite tune. I've seen beginners get up and sing the "ABC" tune and "Twinkle, Twinkle" just to take that very first step. Totally OK to do it anyway at all. If you make up your mind to do it, then change your mind at the last minute, that's ok too. Just keep an open mind. We know it seems like a terrifying thing to do.
Also, we'll have a couple of microphones set up for those who would like to work as a duo, trio or quartet.
For those that don't intend to sing, your invited to attend as well, as it will be nice for Ukesters that do participate to have an audience.
After the open mic orientation session we'll work through the tunes on Set 2 of the NOTL UKESTER SET LIST which includes:
• Ticket to Ride
• Bye Bye Love
• Paper Moon
• Heart of Life
• Brown Eyed Girl
We'll introduce the Turtles' "Happy Together" and review "Heart of Life". We'll take the last part of the workshop for anyone interested in performing for the group.
Feel free to invite any visiting guests, kids or friends you think may enjoy the workshop.
Please RSVP so we know how many to expect.
Thanks very much to those that have RSVP'ed.
See you Sunday!
