You are invited to join other Ring fans for meetups, discussions, lectures and performances: having fun while learning the Ring.
"Der Ring des Nibelungen" (The Ring of the Nibelung) is Richard Wagner's magnum opus, the tetralogy which includes "Das Rheingold", "Die Walküre", "Siegfried" and "Götterdämmerung". Of all great musical compositions, the Ring is by far the longest. A consecutive performance of its four separate parts would last some fifteen hours. Wagner took 28,000 hours to compose his monumental work: the equivalent of 10 years of full-time effort.
This epic is the original "Lord of the Ring", with dozens of characters and symbols, giants and dwarfs, fire and dragons, gods and heroes, Ring and Spear, Sword and Tarnhelm, Rhine and Rainbow, good and evil, love and tragedy. To confer unity on this vast tale, Wagner built his score out of a number of recurrent themes, each one associated with some element in the drama and developed in conjunction with that element throughout the work. These musical themes are "leading motives" (so-called leitmotives or motifs).
Please join our Nibelung meetup group to learn, to share, to enjoy this greatest operatic tragedy.
This group doesn't have any additional upcoming Meetups scheduled.
