For Immediate Release

Luray Caverns TV Commercial

Seeking Extras

Luray Caverns is shooting a television commercial on Wednesday

May 15 and weʼre looking for Extras!!!

Specifically, weʼre looking for extras to play a group of

photographers taking celebrity flash photos in the Cavern. As

the spot opens the viewer assumes the photographers are there to

take pics of a move star, but thereʼs a twist… the celebrity turns out to

be the famed Double Column stalagmite!

Whatʼs in it for you besides fame and the opportunity to work on a

movie set? Weʼll set up a time for your group to take a private

photographic tour of the Cavern – a tour custom built for you to

take low light pictures. Unlike a typical Luray Cavern tours, you will

be permitted to set up a tripod, take additional time to capture

images, and make unscheduled stops. This will be an

unprecedented tour – a once in a lifetime opportunity! (If youʼre not

already part of photo group we will work with you to include you with a

group that is participating in the filming event). Once youʼre signed up

for the TV shoot, the Luray Caverns Director of Marketing, John

Shaffer, will arrange a date and time for your groupʼs custom tour.

The TV shoot day will run from 11am to 6pm. We ask that you

bring your camera, your flash attachments, and wear black or dark

professional clothing to sell the idea that youʼre at an important

celebrity event. Luray Caverns will provide non-alcoholic beverages

and snacks. (Youʼre welcome to take personal photos on May 15th,

but weʼll need to stay close to the set so youʼre ready for your close

up when our cameras are rolling).

If you or your group is interested in participating, please contact

Melanie McGhee at Engine Pictures in Washington DC by May 6

(202)[masked] or [masked]. There will be a

limit of 50 photographers, so please call ASAP.

Does anyone still have the link to the commercial. If so, may I have it. I lost mine and I wanted to show it to a friend.

I finally got around to uploading a few pics. I have a few videos too, but those are rather large. These are SOOC, so be gentle.

What is considered professional clothing? Is a Jacket required or black shirt and slacks sufficient?

I am interested but don't have any flash. Is there any way I could borrow one from someone or some place? Is it necessary to have it?

    April 26, 2013

    • Jerry P.

I have an extra flash that I will be happy to loan you for the day. It is a Nikon Flash. I can bring it with me, you can use it, return it to me at the end of the day.

Notice states that you You MUST contact Melanie by May 6th. But can't RSVP until May 7th. How does that work?

    April 26, 2013

    • Vincent K.

You need to contact Melanie to get on the list. RSVPing here would not mean you are on the list, she is handling that hence the May 7th RSVP date. I'll post those on the her list once she tells me.

      April 26, 2013

    • Jerry P.

I have already contacted her, thanks for the info.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
