This event is about:
Star trails, Mountains lit up by moonlight, MoonBow and whatever you want to take a picture of in Yosemite. This is a one night event on Friday/weekday you need to leave the Bay Area early afternoon to get to Yosemite in time!

Event host:
Laura

Event RSVP, attendance, limit etc:
This event is limited to 14. The event is limited to 14 because I don't want to deal with more people, some locations don't provide more space and we are not alone there!
People with the most recent no-shows or who have proved troublesome to deal with will get the lowest priority at the selection process.
The event on Saturday the 27th is the same with the exception that confirmed/official moonbow calculations are available for the Friday event only. If you have time to attend on both days please sign up for both days and send me (Enrico) an email which day you prefer to attend.
You will be allowed to attend only Friday or Saturday and not both events.

I'm tracking no Shows for this event. Guests are not permitted.
If you change to a "NO" status less than 3 days prior to the event you are counted as a No-Show.  (i.e. after April 23th , 9:00 PM)

Q&A about night photography: http://www.meetup.com/NightPhotography/messages/boards/thread/8314753
If you want to do star trails and haven't done it yet you may want to read up on that, http://blog.starcircleacademy.com/?s=startrail there are also plenty other blogs/articles about that on the Internet.

Why the cryptic event name? Because some people tend not to read the event descriptions if the title gives away what the event is about. Hopefully now they read the description.

It was good, but could be more informative.

Hi Laura, the session was well organized but can be more beneficial if we can share some tips and good practices regarding night photography. Overall i enjoyed it.

Hi Navratna, before judging how much information or help an event host should provide think about this: the event is free, the event host spends her/his spare time to organize an event and lead a group of people to the proper place at the right time. If you are looking for a full workshop experience about Nighphotography join an event on Star Circle Academy.

Is it possible to sign up for 2 people under the same account?

    1 · April 22, 2013

    • Laura Northrup P.

It's normally not allowed. However, I told Ritesh he could bring one guest since the event is not full. You may bring one guest too.

Hi Laura. I have camped quite often and the campsites are usually not that big since it can accomodate only 6. I have also reserved a site #95 so between the 2 of us we should have enough room.

      April 22, 2013

    • Enrico

site are usually big enough for 2 tents. for 2 cars is another thing. the reason why I asked about the site type is that the standard site you can sleep in your car, at the tent-only site you have to sleep in your tent.

no park entry fee (usually $20 per vehicle) until Friday the 26th because this week is national park week. http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/feesandreservations.htm

Yay, I'm happy to see 6 are waiting already! I wanted to host this event because the Saturday event looked like so much fun, and there was a huge waiting list. My hope is that we can accommodate almost everyone interested on one night or the other. I will be happy to answer any questions about preparations for this event. Let me know if you need help planning a specific kind of shot so we can be sure you have all the right gear and training!

Thanks Laura. I will also bring my polarizer and rain protection. Looking forward to it.

      April 17, 2013

    • Enrico

Good idea with the rain cover, forgot to mention that and put it now in the event description.
No special lenses are required but you need a wide angle lens around 24mm for the lower fall and standard/telephoto lens for the upper fall. Polarizer is not required but may improve colors if used properly.

I prefer the 26th because I had already planned to be there early morning on the 26th.
