This message is to all members of the Night Photography Group
I'd like to thank you all for your interest in this group and bother you with a brief email.
First, please consider adding your face to your photo in your profile. This really helps your organizers know who is who... and will help you, too. Not many of us look like models but that is fine. None of us look like trees, flowers or landmarks, either.
Second, please be courteous to your fellow night hawks by carefully reading over the meetup or calendar information before deciding to RSVP. We need your cooperation in providing the details needed to make each event successful. For example there is an event coming up, the Leonid Meteor Shower
on Tuesday, November 17th. There are access restrictions, and fees related to this event so we need to have accurate counts.
Third, please make sure your "Yes" RSVP really is a "Yes". We notice it when you say "Yes" but don't show up. It hurts our feelings and and we are never quite sure if we will be able to head out to shoot for fear that we've left you behind. If you have a "Yes" RSVP and realize you will not attend, please update your RSVP so that we will know and others may have a chance to "take your spot".
Fourth, We are always looking for great ideas about what, where and when to shoot. There is an "ideas" section
on our meetup in which we welcome your votes and suggestions.
Finally, take a look at the Calendar
and Message Boards
. The calendar contains events which are not meetups - but may be of interest (for example I'm hiking up Mission Peak this Thursday, November 5th - something I do regularly). If you know of photographically interesting events to add to the calendar, contact us with the details.
By the way, of the events I've organized so far, I want to thank you all for your enthusiasm and camaraderie. I've been really impressed by the numbers of you who think 3 AM is a GREAT time to get up and take pictures (it is, by the way!). And especially my thanks to folks like Eric
who put together the details for events like the recent Twin Peaks Dusk
shoot. Great stuff!
Your humble assistant Organizer
