So you are getting SPAMed by meetup and you want it to stop. We understand believe us it is annoying. So here are our suggested email settings to get messages about what is important to you. Most people get really frustrated about the email and shut it all off. However if you do you WILL miss an important location change or detail that will not only make you miss the photograph event but will also lead to a No Show which is a terrible place to be.
- Hover the mouse pointer on "My Profile" in the upper Right of the page then right click on Email and Notifacations" to open it in a new tab.
- If you want a detailed description see below otherwise this is what we suggest outlined in Yellow in the photo below
So lets go section by section I will list the text after the check box then translate what it means to you. Meetups
A new meetup is announced- We often send emails out after we post an event to let people know some thing is happening. If you have this checked then you have a huge advantage over others you get an email about 2 minutes after the meetup is published. And you wonder why they fill up so fast this is it they check their email and RSVP right away.
Changes to a Meetup I’m attending – If we change the location or the text in a meetup you will be updated that the meetup was changed. This includes if typos were corrected or if we delete parts.
Comments on a meetup I’m attending - Someone leaves a comment in the Box below the main text description at the bottom of the page = you get an email. Snarky comment = email, Snarky response = email, Bad joke = Email you get the idea.
Another Meetup Group changes the details for a venue we’re using – This is an organizer only setting
Confirmation that I’ve RSVP’d- You hit Yes RSVP you get an email, You RSVP NO you get an email you said NO Your SPAMing yourself if you select this one.
Post event greetings for Meetups I’ve attended - If people continue posting to an old meetup you will get an email useful if the conversation is continueing or if people were talking details or links to relevant conversation. (We would rather you use the discussion board for this) I think this is not that necessary but as an organizer I have it checked. How often do you want to receive Meetup Reminders?
As they are sent - GOOD GOD you have entered the SPAMMY forest, Sir SPAM-A-LOT
At most once per day This is ok not too SPAMMY
Don’t Send me reminders NOTHING here Photos
Photo uploaded for a Meetup I attended – People upload a lot of photos too many some times check that box at your own risk.
Being tagged in a photo or having a tag added to a photo you uploaded. – This one lets you know when people Identify yourself in someone elses photo or identifies people in your photos. Ya I thing it is important to know who is doing what where. Especially since other people can see those tags in your profile.
Comments on a photo I uploaded was tagged in or commented on. – Haters are gunna hate…you should know when they do. But most often it is a love fest because your photo is DA bomb you probably should know that too. Members
Well only organizers see this so now you know. Organizer Broadcasts
Special announcments from the Organizers (Co-Organizers) to members. - We don’t email often but when we do it is important. Mailing list
As they are sent - Sir. Spam-A-LOT Drowns in a wave of email assaults (WAY too much email)
In one daily email – Meh, Ok but still slightly annoying even for me. But a good way to keep up
Don’t send me mailing list messages - I would choose this if I was not an organizer. Message Boards
Send me a daily email when any of the flowing forums and their discussion are updated
Pick what you want to here the format is easily skim-able to see if there is any good content. But if a discussion is on fire you get a lot of email!@!
