Dan Barker / Dinesh D'Souza debate: "Does God Exist?"

Dan Barker is debating Dinesh D'Souza on "Does God Exist?" down in Harrisburg at Messiah College in October.  Messiah College is about 2 hours away. I think we can leave at 4pm and be back home by about 11pm.  I think it's worth a trip down!

Here's the details:

Dan Barker will debate Dinesh D'Souza on the topic "Does God Exist?" on Tuesday, October 2, at Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania. The debate, sponsored by The Connection Ministries and moderated by RJ Harris (radio talk-show host on 580WHP), will take place in the Brubaker Auditorium (located in Eisenhower Campus Center, bldg. #8 on map), 1 College Ave., Grantham, PA 17027. Registration is limited, so purchase your ticket early! ---> Registration page:

Tickets are about $31, $14 for students, and $45 at the door (if available).

The debate was ok. I'm glad I went, but I didn't hear anything new. Lots of straw-men from Dinesh w/Dan swatting them down. Dinesh is a good speaker though, I suspect he knows exactly what's wrong with his arguments, but his book sales are dependent on him not saying so. Listening to Ravi was like a sermon... more straw-men and how horrible those atheist Germans and Russians were, and the Christians around me muttering yes...yes...yes. I considered walking out. Atheists were far-far out-numbered. No clapping at all after Dan's first round, lots of clapping for Dinesh. I started clapping anyway for Dan the 2nd time and a few others joined in.

I'm planning on leaving (from State College) for the debate about 4pm so there's time to eat before it starts. Let me know if anyone wants to carpool down.

I plan to be in Harrisburg for the PA Nonbelievers Conference the weekend before and will probably just stay Monday & Tuesday ... two hours sounds like too far to drive twice in two days! But I'll meet you all there!
