Volunteers Beyond Belief

Hi Everyone,

I've been thinking of starting a volunteer group for some time now and I recently came across the "Volunteers Beyond Belief" (VBB) network.  They're part of the charity "Foundation Beyond Belief" which many of you have probably heard of.

VBB is a network of freethought groups that volunteer in various ways in their communities.  We've talked many times about ways we could be more visible in the community like adopting a highway, and putting up tables at the various street events downtown.  There are many other things we could do as a group like volunteering at the food bank, helping out local charities with grounds maintenance, collecting donations for FBB charities, etc.

We would need to commit to a volunteer event at least 8 times a year (about every 6 weeks).  I don't think we'd have any trouble with that many events...just adopting a highway would be 4-6 events a year.

So...I'd like to submit an application on behalf of the group.  I would bring it up at our next meeting, but the application needs to be submitted by next Monday.

If you have any thoughts on this, or would just be willing to volunteer occasionally, please reply to me or to the group over the next few days.  If there's enough interest I'd like to submit the application over the weekend.

Thanks!
Dave
