I am part of another Meetup Group, the Allegheny Ski & Sports Club that is doing a hike this Sunday at a Thousand Steps, evidently a popular central PA hiking spot, with another meetup group, State College Outdoor Singles.   Anyway I have a roomy car, and would love for people to come>we could meet in state college, and drive to the carpool location/actual Hike loc for the meet up. Below is the details on the meetup site:

The Thousand Steps is a popular hiking spot throughout central PA. So come along and share the experience.
THE PLAN is to meet at the park and ride lot which is just off the Pinecroft exit of I-99,North of Altoona.
From there we can carpool if anyone cares to. It will be about an hour's drive from there. I would suggest we pack a lunch for the trail,,,maybe even a little wine & cheese :-) We normally just go up and back, but there are trails that connect at the top. Usually takes us just two hours or so, but we could always do some exploring too>there will be opp to do loop at top if wish to>about 6.7 miles hike total, 3-4 hrs. It's a pretty nice view from the top, overlooking the mainline railroad and the village of Mapleton Depot. If you will be meeting us at the Hike location, there is a big pulloff area on the left, along Rt 22, about a mile after you crest the ridge top, which is about 5 miles past Huntingdon
