Texas Clay Festival in Gruene

21st annual Texas Clay Festival in Gruene.

Featuring the work of over 60 Texas potters and clay artists, the festival offers the opportunity to view and purchase a wide variety of pottery, from traditional to sculptural by the top clay artist in the state. Take this unique opportunity to watch and learn as demonstrations are held in four tents throughout both days. From forming on the potters wheel to hand-building to raku firing, there is something for everyone.

Admission is free to all festival events

We will meet in front of Gruene Hall at 10:00. Parking is free on Gruene Road, as well as in the big parking lot across from Gruene Hall to the right. We will wander the festival grounds for an hour or so, then get lunch somewhere in town.

There are a few restaurants in Gruene and they are all delicious. We may split into groups heading to any or all of them depending on what cuisine folks want.

Adobe Verde
Cantina Del Rio

Feel free to bring along your family & friends. A few other MeetUp groups are invited to join us as well. At this time of year the weather should be cool and Sunday mornings are not overly crowded in Gruene.

No one showed up at the gathering time and place given except for the man who set it up. We enjoyed the pottery demo that we saw though; it was the first time I have ever seen how a pot, plate, and handle was made and so that was neat.
They also had some very nice mugs and tumblers an things out there. Unfortunately they were a bit pricey though, at least for me and so I wasn't able to purchase anything; maybe next time.

Despite getting there a bit late the pottery was nice and the rain stayed away, had never been to Greune.., cute town. The food was great!

I know of one place that has vegetarian fajitas for me in Gruene; I believe it's Adobe Verde. Not sure about Cantina in Gruene though; I looked at Gristmill's menu once and didn't see any meatless options, so it looks like I will have to choose one of the other 2.
