Leschi and Frink Park

Shall we try this one again and hope there isn't another marathon?! This park is often missed by Seattleites and is really worth taking in. We'll meet down on Lake Washington Boulevard and climb up through the historic Olmstead Brothers design with great views of the lake and restoration work. It's somewhat steep, but that's what makes the view!

Didn't see as much as I would have liked to but seems to be a very nice area!

Just for clarification, I did not walk with Joe, Sheila, and Eric, but I did walk with Judy so we all had walking partners. I think it is too much to ask the sponsors to personally call people if there is a cancellation of the walk, but I will be sure to check my email one hour before the event just to make sure there are no changes. Obviously things will come up, but this seems like it was a one time extraordinary situation, so let's just move on and look forward to the next event.

I also appreciate Ellen pointing out that we don’t have phone numbers to call people and calling 10 people would have been too much for me on Sunday. Someone suggested that we have a backup person. How about if we have a backup plan that includes those people that show up by 5 minutes after the start time (we get a lot of people that sign up and then don’t come so can’t help you with knowing who will show up) do a walk together, as you did. We could also have people that want a telephone call of a last minute change to send me their cell phone number. If I have a lot of numbers I would need other volunteers make calls too. But I really think the best plan is to do the walk with who every shows up. Even if you end up being the only person. What do you think?
For those of you who need to take buses to get to a walk please let us know as members of this group are happy to help out with shared transportation.

PS I believe I’m on the mend and feeling much better.

I’m really sorry that some of you were frustrated with how Sunday’s walk got handled. I’ll bet you weren’t feeling as bad as I was feeling. Both because I am a real stickler for meeting my commitments and more importantly because I was very sick.
Thanks Ellen for explaining that I took you by surprise on Sunday morning letting you know I was too sick to even drive to your house or take a shower. I was taken by surprise at how sick I was too. I thought I was getting better since I’ve been under doctor care since last Thursday and didn’t think I wouldn’t be able to do a walk when I went to bed Saturday night. That’s the explanation for the last minute “canceling” of Ellen and me coming.
I’m glad Joe, Faith, Sheila, and Eric followed Ellen’s suggestion that you take advantage of being out and have a walk without us. Thank you for taking the initiative. I can’t tell if Judy stayed for the walk. I hope you did Judy (and I’m sorry this first walk for you was such a disappointment).

Eric, Faith, and I had a lovely, if brief walk anyway, and they were kind enough to give me a ride back to the U district. I hope Irene is feeling better.

    Ellen,
I do appreciate you and Irene volunteering to lead these walks, and just having the fuller explanation makes it much better. I do hope Irene is OK. Yes, things happen that cannot be foreseen and we are all understanding, just momentarily frustrated.

I took three buses from North City (in Shoreline) and then walked a half mile from the last bus stop. Just saying.

Didn't see the cancel until a bit after 10 but met up with Joe and did our own mini walk about :)

I drove all the way from Bothell, so had to leave before the canceling email was sent. Saw it when I got to the event. It would be nice to get a better explanation and might be a good idea for the leader to have a back up person in case this happens again.

I got there, couldn't find anyone. Then, Faith, arrived and told me it was cancelled. Very disappointed. Left my house at about 8:40 am, and now, at about 5 pm, I see an e-mail sent at 8:54 am cancelling the event.

Hi Ellen & Irene - Unanticipated time demands are creeping in on me this weekend so I have to pass on this walk - with a regrettable late notice. Looking forward to seeing you next weekend. Best to you.

Approximately how many miles are we talking about? I'm not familiar with this particular park.
