Herons at the Locks

The herons have returned to roost at Commodore Park on the south side of the Locks. We'll meet at the Discovery Park Visitor Center and meander through the northeast corner of Kiwanis Ravine, check out the herons and the grounds at the Locks, and then come back across the pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks. This will be a fun one, let's hope the dirt paths aren't muddy!

Dinosaurs with feathers, herons are. Magical to contemplate.

Really loved this walk today. I know I say that every week. I just love all these walks we go on. Seeing the herons and their nest was the highlight.

I've had a stomach virus (or something) for the past few days, and although I feel better this morning I'm not sure I have the energy for a long walk today. But I may surprise you and meet you at the locks!

I'm happy to have made it off the waitlist, but I do have a question. My right knee is acting up, and I'm avoiding stairs and steep grades right now (dr appt next week). How steep is the grade? Other than that I'm good, I walk 3-4 miles 4-5 times a week. Just wondering if I should give up my spot. Thanks!

Thanks Ellen. Normally I'd be completely in, and it sounds like a great walk. I'm sorry to have to bow out of this one.

I've been having some knee problems as well, so better bow out. Darn!

Thanks for your kind understanding and the alternative suggestion. It sounds great. I'll check it out and sign up if I'm available.

I'm so grateful to have had the heads up about the steep, muddy grade. I'm still recovering from a badly broken arm and am not ready to risk a tumble. So, regrettably, I think I should sit this one out.

Ditto Jan's comments...I have good hiking boots and sweet pup, Rainie won't mind.

Very interested to make this, my inaugural walk, with the group. Very much looking forward to meeting everyone and enjoying the herons!

Oops. I will be driving to Portland that day, so I took my name off. So sorry to be missing this one.

I'm on a borrowed computer and it's not cooperating. I'd like to sign up (I guess on the waitlist?) for me plus one. Thanks.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
