No Budget Scene started a bunch of years ago online as a paid bulletin board for lo-no budget filmmakers to meet, greet, share and contribute to each other's projects. It became apparent that a huge part of the board was located in and around the outskirts of NYC and most were newcomers to filmmaking or were people who wanted guidance in their own projects from the more experienced members. Unfortunately, as the board aged and it's more experienced members got involved in bigger and bigger projects - TV, feature films, advanced shorts and corporate video - it fell by the wayside. The purpose of this group is to pick up where the board left off. The mission is to provide a forum for learning, networking and to provide links to other groups, meetups, classes and events that will provide fodder to those who set out on the crazy path of no-lo budget filmmaking. The group itself will directly set up basic and intermediate classes on lighting, HDSLR usage, writing, production and more at hefty discounts to members of the group and will support other groups in the area in the hope of sharing and supporting the entire Long Island/NY filmmaking community. We don't wish to compete with other groups, only to share knowledge and support the filmmaking community. Some groups we highly recommend checking out are the Long Island Amateur Fimmakers meetup and the NYC Screenwriters Meetup along with Big Vision Empty Wallet, which can now be found on the web. Most meetings will be in or around the Smithtown, NY Area. Class locations will be announced when scheduled and will be Suffolk, Nassau and the city.
