Where are you located?

Fort Collins

What, if any film experience do you have?

Most recent project was a 50 minute pilot for a series on American Life on Algerian Canal TV. It was a work-for-hire that I produced, wrote, shot and edited locally. Past documentary shorts have included the co-produced 210 Million Tons, which showed at the Lyric and opened for the film, Dive; and numerous promos, artists profiles, actor's reel, local projects. Promos are story oriented. I've had several projects in development such as Just Like Us, based on the book by Helen Thorpe, and Polyg Kid. Currently, Beyond the Breadline (a former Kickstarter project) is in production, and a feature in development on the significance and issues of the Poudre River--its history in water law, and future as a wild and scenic river and water source. Alumni of CSU's Journalism and Technical Communication program, Television and Video concentration.

What skills/knowledge can you share with the group? What skills/knowledge would you like to gain or borrow?

Final Cut Studio editing, compressing, DVD authoring skills. I shoot in HD with a Sony pro-cam and have a pretty good eye for framing a shot. Just about everything I've done I've shot myself. Also set up three-point interview lighting and own my own kit. Own and use a variety of mics including boom, wireless and wired lavs. Storytelling is my strength. I'm crazy full of ideas for projects and visual stories, especially documentary. Also, good interview skills, bringing out all the information and getting people comfortable and willing to talk on camera.

Are you interested in helping others to create their films?

Sure. It depends on how extended I am with volunteer projects and my own work. I have to pay the mortgage, but I have also shot footage and given it to others to edit. When I work the money projects I often charge low rates and do some trading. And I've done gratis work for others in "the other" small NoCoFilmmaker's group in Fort Collins that I co-founded. We help each other out.

What filmmaking equipment can you share on group/member projects? What gear could you stand to test or borrow?

Sony HD all-digital pro-cam, small voiceover studio with ProTools and Rode mic, edit bay with Final Cut Studio 7, wired lavaliere mic, wireless lav, on-camera boom, handheld mic, tripod, monopod, small 3-light kit, Marantz solid state audio recorder.

I am a documentary filmmaker and the owner of Be Reel Pictures. (www.bereelpictures.com) I produce, direct, shoot, edit and write. The Poudre River feature is in development; Beyond the Breadline is in production. Let's make NoCo a hub for indie film
