5-Star User Experience: What Going Out to Eat Teaches Us About UX Design

Front-end developers today are often asked to make decisions that impact the product's user experience. So what are the core principles and methods of UX design that every developer needs to know?

In this interactive session led by Jimmy Chandler, Director of UX for Modus Create, we'll explore how we can apply the key concepts from a great restaurant experience to the user experiences we design - and learn the lessons from those who fail to meet their customers' needs. We'll connect these ideas to what we know about how the human brain works and how our emotions impact our decision making, and discover what great restaurateurs and great designers do in common.

Jimmy's session will start at 7pm, but we'll be there as early as 6:30pm!

Just to be clear: UX is not about marketing. The details in the interaction design, visual design and information architecture affect the user's experience, the sum total of what they feel about the product or service. This is very different from marketing, which is all about selling.

I'll have to check that Italian restaurant out someday. Good chat, and it's true that the marketing details make a lot of difference. Success in the restaurant biz is hard; it's even harder for people to successfully attract and keep users online, so UX issues must be considered.
