RubyNation and HTML5 Roadshow

Hi Folks, here are a couple of upcoming local JS-related events that you might be interested in.

== RubyNation Ruby and Rails Conference ==

RubyNation is DC's Ruby and Rails conference. This is mostly Ruby, of course, but there are several JS talks including one on AngularJS and another on RubyJS. This year we will be in Silver Spring, Maryland June 13-15. June 13th will be a Rails Girls training day ( and the full two tracked conference will be June 14-15 ( Use the discount "dcruby" to get $30 off if you would like to attend.

== HTML5 Roadshow ==

The is coming to town (it says DC on the site, but it is in Reston, VA at Near Infinity's training center).

This is a great series of HTML5 training days, each day offered individually. They are taught by Scott Davis and Kyle Simpson, both experts in the new Web Platform standards. I've seen these guys speak before and loved it. Both are great teachers worth going out of your way to see.

The information that I have on these classes is that they are "all typing, all the time". So, you will get lots of hands on experience. Also, they are "backend agnostic" so they apply to anyone just wishing to learn the front end without respect to your backend architecture.

From the email I got from Scott Davis: A 60 minute UG talk is a great way to get introduced to a topic, but you can't really learn it until you type it yourself and "prove it in code". The HTML5 Roadshow is a series of hands-on, in-depth workshops taught by industry experts. This is intermediate-to-advanced "cask-strength" training targeted at working professionals in the field.

The specific session days are:

The Modern Web Developer's Toolkit on May 20
Advanced JavaScript: The "What You Need To Know" Parts on May 21
Airplane-Mode HTML5: Mobile Web Development for Tablets and Smartphones on May 22
Unleash The Faster Web: Secrets of Website Performance on May 23
Node.js: More than just another web server on May 24

Sounds great. I know I will be at a couple of these.
