Wow, this was a great event, tons of speakers. I think I forgot to post my slides. Here they are:

    http://storify.com/dkords/nodejs-ssjs-club-sf-meetup-7-nodejs-for-gaming-and/slideshow

For historical purposes, you can flip through and see who presented that night, since it was sort of improv night in our scheduling of speakers. And apologies that we lost the justin.tv feed, never found out what happened to it.

Hope to run another Node.js + Gaming night soon. Takers? Hosts?

There were a number of folks looking for contractors expert in node. We (the founders of wompt.com) are available to take on projects - wompt.com is built almost entirely on node.js, using express, jade, socket.io, and mongodb.

Some great info (particularly the last 2 speakers). Quality of the talks varied wildly and were not all focused on NodeJS. I would have liked more nitty gritty, demos (write some code, run it), etc.

It was fun attending. Learnt a lot of new things.

Thanks very much, Herman, for providing your slides - for those on Windows/linux/etc., can you provide .ppt of your slides and/or SlideShare them? (http://www.slideshare.net/)

This was a great meetup, talks focused on people and the work they're doing with node.js. It was nice and informal, met lots of great people from the node community.

Slides are posted under "Things To Check out" : https://github.com/truedat101/nodejs-clubsf-code/wiki/Meetup-number-7 . Please update the wiki if you are a speaker and add your slides.

Hey all. We did it, blasted through 10+ speakers, and it all went together somehow. Thanks esp. to our hosts Tony @ IGN for supporting our A/V requirements and being very helpful. Thanks as well to the great speakers and support of Joyent who managed to bring in 1/3 of the speakers.

Cool; I'll watch the streaming video then, and I will not attend.

    April 28, 2011

  • Truedat

The sponsor, IGN has offered to handle streaming for this meetup, so if you cannot make it, tune into: http://www.justin.tv/igntechtalks for the stream or archive.

  • Truedat

Folks, we capped the limit for the talk at 150, as this is max capacity for the venue. If you cannot make it, please change your status to 'no' as a courtesy move (very un-San Franciscan) for others who would like to come. Please have any guests RSVP themselves. Working on the food, which I will target for 80 people, so please come early if you plan to eat.

  • Truedat

Dave, sounds like a good plan. If you have it under control, can you coordinate directly with Mark Cahill to make sure he knows what he needs to do on the evening of?

    April 27, 2011

  • Dave E.

Remote presenters will have to skype in - connect to Dave Edelhart. I'm already working with Pyro/ Nick Kinsey - also the talks will be streaming at http://www.justin.tv/igntechtalks

    April 27, 2011

  • Truedat

Dave, can you clarify what you'll be using for remote presenters? And how will we make this work for the venue?

    April 27, 2011

  • Mark C.

What software are we using to present remotely?

    April 26, 2011

  • Dave E.

Note - for presenters who are presenting remotely, please connect to my account (Dave Edelhart) during the meetup. I will be available for two hours prior to the meeting to test connection.

  • Truedat

Great, I'll add you to the agenda.

    April 19, 2011

  • Dave E.

    Yes. and presenting in this.

    April 19, 2011

  • Truedat

Dave E, will you be presenting this?

    April 19, 2011

  • Dave E.

I have put up a pathfinding node module at https://github.com/bingomanatee/astar-node - note - my first formal npm module so buyer beware.

    April 14, 2011

  • Dave E.

I have asked people to put a quick teaser of their games up http://nodejs.wikia.com/wiki/Node_SF_Meetup:_Node.js_for_Gaming_and_Gaming_Companies - if you are presenting and have not done so yet please take the time to post a teaser of the game you are going to present. @Kevin, you are welcome to present - we always have time for more good stuff.

    April 13, 2011

  • Truedat

Hi Mark, I'll check it out, and thanks for stepping forward. I'll contact you directly to get you on the agenda.

We hope to present our proof of concept for real-time MMO games on node.js. It's a capture the flag game, and consists of an android client connecting to a Node.js backend. You can view the HTML5 UI mockup at http://ctf.no.de

Tony, what is the max attendee capacity for IGN?

    April 5, 2011

  • Truedat

Hi Tony, great, yes. Can we archive the stream as well? Let me know what sort of logistics we need to cover prior to the event. I will shoot you an email to discuss.

    April 4, 2011

  • Truedat

Also exploring starting to screencast and audiocast the meetups. Video will come later.

    April 1, 2011

  • Truedat

Folks, Dave and I will get the agenda together for this event together and we also want to organize a gaming social following the speakers, so I will work on the logistics for that.

  • Truedat

Folks, I will start organizing the agenda and sorting out the details. Looking forward to this one. Get your game on!

    March 30, 2011

  • Ann B.

Hi David and Dave, sent you both linked in invites so we can discuss easier, and happy to assist in whatever ways appropriate.

I'm talking with Pyrotechnick - he has an HTML5 game he's been working on that (may) be ready to present by then - there are many smaller scale MP games in the node community and I'm working with their backers to build a formal list of presenters.

    March 29, 2011

  • Truedat

Hi Ann, I will send you and Dave a message to sort out promotion of the event and the MPG overview for Node.

    March 29, 2011

  • Ann B.

Hi Dave, can help publicize it to game people (I chair the Silicon Valley IGDA) and also would like to present an overview of some multiplayer game code using Node.js.

    March 27, 2011

  • Dave E.

Pleaase POST URLS to any game that you plan to present! It doesn't have to be "done" - but it would help us to attract game industry people and have an idea of what is available to talk about.

We have an offer from Tony at IGN headquarters - sounds like a total win! I'm taking it.

    1 · March 10, 2011

  • Truedat

Great idea! They actually do have space.

    March 8, 2011

  • Dave E.

Sounds fun. I'm actually thinking of popping into the Microsoft headquarters for this one.

    March 7, 2011

  • Truedat

Dave, can we tack on a gaming social onto the tail end of the event? Assuming the venue we use will accomodate.

    March 6, 2011

  • Dave Edelhart removed the location. It was Rocket Space
