CI, Release Engineering for Node.js (and Build Tools too!)

  • Oct 25, 2012 · 6:30 PM

Flite has offered to sponsor this event and speak at this event.

Tentative Agenda:

6:30 - Meet and Greet with Food and Drinks

7:ish- Clay Smith (Flite) "How (and how not) to build JavaScript: How Flite got rid of Ant and moved to Grunt. Clay's a front-end engineer at Flite and a refugee from .NET programming in the Midwest."

8:ish- Ben Lindsey, Lead Engineer at Vungle, a mobile video advertising platform, will discuss continuous deployment with node and chef in the cloud. Test driven development and zero downtime deploys have been core principles of our team since the beginning. The combination of teamcity, git, and mocha has been invaluable for delivering high quality software in a rapidly changing marketplace.

Before 9: David J. Kordsmeier - Brief, quick overview of the "State of Node.js Build Tools": http://storify.com/dkords/state-of-node-js-build-tools/slideshow

At our last TDD with Node.js meetup, build tools played prominently in the discussion, as did CI. If you've got some experience in these areas, work on a product or service in these areas, or have some deep insights, please send me a message about speaking.

What happened to the 45 spots? It appears that this has been reduced to 37. It would be nice if a seat opened up, thanks :)

Folks, will have a live stream of the game available on one screen, so don't worry about missing a minute of the action! Go Giants!

All, please note that Thursday is a World Series Game night. Plan accordingly. As always, if you are a maybe, please change your status to not going. And if you think you will roll into SF around 6, think again. Everything will be jammed up and there will be added security.

I'd really like to go to this. I'm in the middle of building a CD system for my Node deployment RIGHT NOW. Any chance of squeezing in a few more spots?

For sure but it's only been in my head until today so we will see what exists by next week :)

As always folks, no wait list, but, there is always enough room (we can reallocate space dynamically :p ) at each event. We usually space things out so that all the spots aren't snagged in the first few days after we open up the meetup.
