Framework Smackdown

A Node.js frameworks comparison, based on http://goo.gl/5waiA
* Server Frameworks: Express, Tower, Railway, FlatIron
* Client Frameworks: Backbone, Angular, Ember
* Real-Time Frameworks (Client+Server): Derby, Meteor, SocketStream

I'll be covering Derby and Meteor in-depth, as well as some info on Tower, Railway, & FlatIron. Robert Hall will talk about SocketStream, Igor (time willing) about various client frameworks (incl. Backbone). And anyone else who has specialties they'd like covered, message me.

The conclusion (spoiler alert) is Backbone + Express for 99% of you :) But this comparison will help you sift that out.

    I know there were a few questions I wasn't able to answer and said I'd get back to y'all on, but I failed to write them down. Pls. feel free to leave your questions here and I'll do my best to answer. Also, total shameless self-promotion, but if anyone is looking to get involved in this real-time stuff, I have a film-related proj that will be looking for help. Feel free to contact me directly (on my profile page) for more deets.

    I hope I didn't leave the situation in greater disarray than before

      Made some updates to the decision flowchart (last slide), pretty satisfied with it now. Check it out.

    Eek, I didn't realize this was happening tomorrow night. I'm hosting the Boston Ember.js meetup tomorrow night which is in a conflicting spot. Now that I'm part of this group, I'll have the heads up.

      I've cancelled the Ember meetup and will reschedule it as I think it's better to bring everyone together at this one.

    Is there anyone who who knows enough about client MVCs compared to chime in? (Backbone, Angular, Ember, Sping, Knockout, etc). I seem to have lost my guy on that part, and I'm planning to present primarily on Node.js frameworks. Email me.

      I'd also add that this doesn't have to be anything formal. Just having some people handy who can help lead any discussions or answer questions would be great.

      That sounds perfect. I'll do Node.js frameworks, and end with an opening of the concept of client MVCs - do a tiny intro on Backbone, then leave it to the floor

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
