Near-death experiences (NDEs) have been described as ineffable experiences that may include a journey through a tunnel, peaceful feelings, an out-of-body experience, and profound changes for clients. Research shows that NDEs occur in people of both genders and characterized by any identifiable demographic: all ages, cultures, races, belief systems, socioeconomic levels, sexual orientations, levels of education, and life histories. It also indicates that 10-30% of people who experience a close brush with death, through illness, accident, or suicide attempt, have reported NDEs—and that the experience also occurs not only near physical death but also during other circumstances of profound physical or psychological stress. As a result of this presentation, attendees will learn the results of 30 years of research on NDEs.
DR. RYAN FOSTER has specialized training with people who have had near-death experiences. Dr. Foster is assistant editor for the Journal of Near-Death Studies, and a member of the International Association for Near-Death Studies.
