Edward Snowden: 2 different perspectives on the leaks

I thought perhaps this time we'd try something different: 2 books (one very short!) offering different views on the Edward Snowden intelligence leaks.
Please only RSVP if: (a) you have access to a kindle (apologies but one of the books appears to be solely in that format); (b) you are not attending any other session in March (so that more of our members can have the opportunity to participate in sessions - we are at 100 members!); and (c) you actually intend to read the books and turn up (please no free option takers as this can be very unfair to other members who would like to attend but can't due to all places being allocated).
The books are as follows:
The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World's Most Wanted Man by Luke Harding
While we can all give thanks to Grazia magazine for honing our WAG spotting talents and keeping us updated every time Cheryl Cole leaves the house with lipstick on her teeth, for those of us who also enjoy reading non-fiction books, it can be hard to find the right book club outlet.
The purpose of this book club is to provide a relaxed, fun and social environment for women who enjoy reading non-fiction. Ideally, members will be:
- interested in being politically and socially aware;
- women who enjoy a good non-fiction book, a good laugh, brunching (and perhaps even the occasional drink!) and are looking to expand their social group.
Each meet up will be limited to 8-10 members, and the group itself will be fairly restricted in numbers so as to actually allow it to function as a proper book club.
Members should obviously be interested in non-fiction and generally able to commit to meeting once a month on a Saturday or Sunday morning for a brunch session in London.
The kind of books we will read will cover a broad spectrum of topics and titles will be diverse as Freakonomics, Bad Science, Deer Hunting with Jesus, The Ascent of Money and The Tipping Point. The actual title month to month will depend on what the group is interested in. We will also try a number of different brunch venues around London - some favourites include Flat White, Providores and Roast but it would be great if members suggested their own favourite venues.
If this sounds like something you might be interested in, it would be great hear from you! Please note we charge a £2 annual membership fee which is to cover the costs of running the site with meetup and is not for profit.
