Some potential book suggestions for a meet-up in September?

  • January 22, 2014 · 5:45 PM

I'm quite busy weekends until September (and looks like the meet-ups are full anyway) but would like to suggest a few books for future meet-ups. I got prompted by an email that came around. These numbers don't reflect my preferences, any would be fine with me. I'm very flexible about where we might brunch, dates in Sept. etc.
1. Wanted Women: Faith, Lies and the War on Terror: The Lives of Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Aafia Siddiqui by Deborah Scroggins. This looked interesting and provocative for good discussion. It's on but only in hardcover or kindle so far. There are used book options.
2. Day of Honey: A Memoir of Food, Love and War by Anna Ciezadlo. Cheap paperbacks available on Amazon, looks like a fairly 'easy' read but interesting topic and recommended by a trusted friend of mine.
3. Joan Didion (never read anything by her), Thinking the 20th Century-interviews with Tony Judt, Susan Sontag essays (again, only read her photography stuff so would be curious).

Just some quick suggestions- I'm happy to try almost anything.

Hi Caitlin, i am happy to suggest one of these book suggestions at our meeting on 18 August (if you aren't able to attend yourself) - just let me know which one you would prefer! Thanks, VB

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
