Urban Nights

If you haven't been to Urban Nights, it's one of those things you feel obligated to do (as a Daytonian) but it's still kind of fun. They do it twice a year and it's an opportunity for downtown Dayton businesses--especially art galleries--to open up to the public. I mainly go for the street venders and to see some of the musicians play. Plus there's a roving art show that we sometimes track down.

The weather may be iffy (40% chance of rain) so we can always reconvene at the Wine Gallery if the weather turns sour or we get bored.

I'm glad we met up, though I'm sorry we didn't all get in line together. Lesson learned...the longer line is sometimes faster.

OK, sounds good! Then LET'S MEET AT THE FOOD TRUCK RALLEY AT RIVERSCAPE AT 6:30. My cell # is (937)[masked](dos). I'm writing the last number in Spanish to defeat spambots. From there, we can head over to the Dayton Visual Arts Center or take a flood tour or people can scatter in whatever direction they choose.

Joel, if you can't make it at 6:30, give me a call and I'll let you know where we're at.

If anyone's seen the weather radar/hourly forecast it's not looking good. There's a big front coming up from the south. It's looking like rain all afternoon with a possible break around 5-6, and then more rain. So we could do the "Flood Tour" or try to get into the Wine Gallery. I also wouldn't mind seeing "Mud" at The Neon (7:10 pm) or getting some drinks in the Plaza hotel. Quick vote: "If it rains I'll... a) cancel, b) still go to Urban Nights, c) go to the tour/Wine Gallery/movie/Plaza"?

One of the other meetups decided to go to the comedy club at the Greene so I think I'm doing that instead since it is pouring here in downtown.

I will be downtown this evening working anyway. So if anyone is game to meet at the food trucks or in court house square, I will gladly join you for a bit(e).

If the weather does get bad, this sounds kind of fun:
Great Dayton Flood of 1913 Bus Tours
Presented by Dayton History, Generation Dayton and Greater Dayton RTA
Hop on one of the specially marked "Flood Tour" buses for a guided excursion telling the story of our city's largest natural disaster. The free 30- to 45-minute tour will follow the Urban Nights blue bus route and will stop at various locations throughout downtown Dayton.

There is a great art opening at the Dayton Visual Arts Center that night! We'll be there, hope to see you too!

Thanks for the tip... That sounds fun. Weather.com's now showing a 60% chance of rain. We'll see how things look tomorrow.

I cannot commit to the full evening. Once you go firm on a meeting place and time, I probably could step out from work for an hour or so and tag along for a little while.

It'll be good to see you again. Also, I never noticed your bio before. Stellar!

It looks like a bunch of food trucks will be at RiverScape (http://www.activedayton.com/news/entertainment/dining/food-trucks-revolution-hitting-dayton-with-gourmet/nXhz2/) so we could always change our meet up location, depending on what people are most interested in. The Courthouse Square has food venders as well, and it also has music and dancing.
