In our next meeting we’ll discuss Perfect Brilliant Stillness -- a book by David Carse.
This book is available, as new, through Amazon, and as used, through a few internet sites, but you are unlikely to find it at any bookstore. As an alternative, you can download the unabridged audio book ($14.95) read by the actor Terrence Stamp who does a terrific job of reading the book: (http://www.silksoundbooks.com/performers/terence-stamp/). Terrence says that if he were left alone on a desert island with only one book, this is the one book he would choose. In the beginning of our meeting, a synopsis of the book will be presented.
If you want to understand something about enlightenment (or really what it is not), Advaita, non-duality, dzogchen, etc, this book will give you an introduction to the basics. Carse will tell you outright that his book will not help you become a better person. On the other hand, if you are a seeker, then you'll want to read this book as it doesn't sugarcoat things.
READ THIS BOOK and come to the next meeting! If you can’t read it, come anyway and hear about it! Then read it (well only if you want).
