Please suggest a non-fiction book for the club to read

Off the top of my head, I can only think of two: The Closing of the american Mind, by Harold Bloom, and Down and Out in Paris and London, by George Orwell.

Why would the book you suggested be a good one for us to read and discuss?

Introduction

Hi: I only read fiction and realize that I'm limiting myself. Actually, I'm also a writer (again of fiction) and have a book of short stories coming out this fall. Still, I'd like to open myself up to some new ideas, new ways of thinking.
