Schedule Nordic skiing trips for this coming winter season!

  • July 26, 2013 · 7:30 PM

The Ski Touring Section (STS) of the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club (PATC) will be hosting a meeting (with food & drink!) next Friday evening, July 26, to set the trip schedule for next winter's skiing, both nearby and distant locales. Local Nordic skiers are invited to join in the planning process, particularly if they have an interest in perhaps leading a ski trip. Most of the STS trips take place in the mid-Atlantic region. These trips are normally in WV, PA and MD. However, more distant trips are also worked into the schedule -- trips to spots with highly dependable snow. For the last several years the Section has hosted excursion ski trips to Vermont and New Hampshire. For this coming winter, plans are underway to offer excursion trips not only to New England but also to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks in February and to Estonia in March.

We will be meeting on Friday evening at the home of the STS Trip Coordinator up in Olney, Maryland. I'll be driving up from
Arlington and would be happy to carpool with others interested. If you want to join in this planning exercise and meet several of the key volunteers in the STS, give me a call or email and I'll give you the Olney address. A great way to get hard wired into the Nordic skiing scene here in metropolitan Washington!

Very informative and great insight about what to expect. Also, it was lovely to meet the trip leaders and to hear about the amazing work they do to make these trips a joy for the rest of us! Ingrid and John

We do need an address for this meeting and so if you could email that to [masked] I would appreciate it. Thank you.
