Learn about Nordic skiing equipment and near and far ski locales

Come learn the ins and outs about cross-country (Nordic) skiing at a presentation at REI in the Baileys Crossroads area of northern Virginia.  Nordic skiing is what you see people doing in the streets and on recreational paths when a snowstorm hits the Washington metro area.  It's fun, easy and great exercise in the wintertime.  And there are great spots in the mid-Atlantic to ski when conditions are good.  And even more scenic locations (with reliable snow) further afield up North, out West beckon to the serious skier.

The REI store is on Carlin Springs Road, just down from its intersection with Route 7 (Leesburg Pike). Meeting room is at the back of the store. To ensure a seat for this event, you need to register on the REI site as well as RSVPing here on Meetup.  Go to http://www.rei.com/stores/baileys-crossroads.html and scroll down the page to this event listed on December 5th.  Then click to register & fill out the required info.  You do not need to be an REI member to sign up.  Simple as pie!

I am most likely going to buy a starter package through REI but I thought the presentation would be helpful to attend before I did that.

Want to learn more about cross-country skiing? Attend this meeting at REI's Baileys Crossroads store on December 5th and get info on proper Nordic skiing clothing, the proper ski equipment, where ski equipment can be purchased, the various types of Nordic skiing, and good locations to enjoy this sport both in the Mid-Atlantic area. Some discussion about snowshoeing as well.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
