Nordic skiing in New Hampshire over the MLK, Jr. holiday weekend!

One of the annual excursion ski trips of the PATC Ski Touring Section is 3 days of skiing at various ski touring centers (STCs) in the White Mountains region of New Hampshire.  The group (a mix of singles and couples) will be lodging in quality rented homes in the area.  We will ski at several STCs in the area including the Jackson STC (http://www.jacksonxc.org/), the Bretton Woods STC (http://brettonwoods.com/xcountryski/index.cfm), and the Great Glen STC (http://www.greatglentrails.com/).

Most skiers will fly from BWI to Manchester, NH on Southwest Airlines on Thursday morning, Jan. 17 and fly back on late Monday afternoon, Jan. 21.  They will rent and share vehicles in Manchester to get up to the White Mountains.  Others may drive their own vehicles from the D.C. area or take the train to Boston and rent a vehicle there.

This is a trip offered through the Ski Touring Section of the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club (PATC).  Cost per person is $290, which covers 4 nights of lodging and all in-house food and drink.  An additional charge may apply for a single participant. Skiers pay their transportation costs and for any STC fees.  If needed, ski and snowshoeing equipment can be rented on site at any of the STCs.  Lessons are available at the ski centers.  Participants must be members of the PATC to participate in this excursion trip.  Joining this club is easy to arrange.  See http://www.patc.net/PublicView/.

While I haven't yet, I plan on joining the PATC. If I am a member, would a non-member be able to come on the trip as my guest? (She lives near Manchester so it wouldn't make much sense for her to join.)

Are you still considering this New Hampshire trip? There are a few bed spots still available.

I won't be able to make it -- My friend who was planning on joining me actually lost her apartment to a fire and we are having a fundraiser that weekend. Wish we could come!
