Guys, if you are still going be REALLY careful out there. Roads are really icy. Paths are also very slippery for those who intend to walk.

We will have a couple of big tables upstairs but you'll probably find me at the bar to begin with!

Well, I can't make it because of a slippery situation I'm in.

You could say I'm on thin ice at the moment.

Do you think someone could do a "How to get started writing games" type presentation in the near future? I'd really like to understand the technology you're using.

    January 15, 2013

    • Sam J.

There's plenty of people who could but its not just one technology being used. So much software, so many languages and so many preferences on how to make games. This is one of the things i wanted to talk about tonight, as I've been talking to the community manager for GAME Digital and he's wanting to put together a series of blog and videos of "how to.." and "days in the life of a game developer". Mainly to get the industry across to the gamer more so there's more understanding and information behind games.

Only thing i could really impart wouldve been "how it was done in ye olde days". It really depends what kind of game youre going to write. Simple puzzle games, anything 2D, you really dont need much tech for.

I'm afraid we won't make it this time, it would have been nICE to come but it's a sNOw go.
Would be awesome to do another social meetup soon though.

Did anybody else set themselves a game development-related New Year's resolution? For me, it's to actually get one of my many half-baked mobile game ideas finished to completion and published on the Google Play/Apple Store by the end of the year. How about you?

    January 3, 2013

      To finish old projects.

My resolution was to write a tweet every day. Almost all of them are development updates so I guess that counts. @rich_exobyte

Hoping to make it along for the first time on Tuesday. I'm not a game Dev, but do have oodles of Dev experience. So go gently with me. I'm hoping to learn what you guys are using to develop games and how it's done. Also got a new business to talk about.

Andy, so you're a designer? Of the graphic variety? I'll look forward to talking to you too.

Fingers are crossed that the weather doesn't take a huge crap on us for this.

Alcohol doesn't actually keep you warm. It slows down your metabolism. You get colder, you just can't feel it!

Unfortunately not going to be able to make this one because I am visiting friends of mine in Derby. Will definitely be at the next one though :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
