Wine-Sailing-Mixer

Please join Austin Sailboat Rentals on Friday for an hour and half of sailing on Lady Bird Lake followed by an hour of socializing with friends and fellow sailors on the back patio at Joe's Crab Shack, located directly across the Lake.

These are great little centerboard dinghy sailboats to learn how to sail in, or if you already know how to sail, they are a blast to sail up and down Lady Bird Lake in!

The cost is $47 - which includes:  sailing instructions on land by a certified sailing instructor, a PFD, sailing on the water while seeing downtown Austin from a different perspective, and a glass of wine afterwards while sharing your experience of sailing with other sailors at Joe's Crab Shack.  Additional wine and appetizers are also available for purchase.

Please RSVP and pay in advance by calling Jim at[masked]-0980.

This event is scheduled for 20 boats and is being hosted on other Meetup calendars, so please make your reservations early.

Peggy - I am a certified sailing instructor and my husband, Jim is a trained life guard (with rescue boat). We will provide land instructions, safety overview and then send you off. You should do just fine, but if you don't like it, all you have to do is let your sail down and paddle back.

Jade - be sure to throw salt over your left shoulder then and keep an eye on the weather ... severe thunder and lightening is expected today.

Due to the weather Austin Sailboat Rentals is going to postpone this event "Wine-Sailing-Mixer" to sometime in June. We apologize in advance if we have disappointed you too much. Thanks

Our boats are small centerboard dinghies that can accommodate two adults (up to 320 pounds total). They are great to learn how to sail in for beginners, but there could be a possibility of capsizing if you don't know what you are doing and/or the winds pick up. I would advise bringing a waterproof bag of some sort and remember, if it doesn't float it will sink to the bottom of the lake. Sorry

Very interested. Is it going to be one large sailboat or everyone sailing on their individual ones? Silly question XD sorry I've never gone sailing. I'm trying to figure out if I can safely bring my camera for landscape pictures.

Don't forget to dress for the weather and bring a change of clothes/shoes, just in case you get wet.
