Come enjoy Lake Berryessa from a unique perspective on a ranger-led paddling tour. Each tour offers a different experience as we launch from various areas around the lake.
Our second paddle of the series is along Pope Creek on Easter Sunday. We will meet in the parking lot and carry the boats down a steep path to the shoreline. Rangers will be able to help haul boats, but be prepared for a bit of a workout. All the huffing and puffing will be worth it though, as we paddle up Pope Creek looking for spring wildflowers and wildlife. As time allows, we will return to the mouth of the creek and continue out to the main body of the lake for sweeping views and possible bald eagle sightings. Your talented ranger guide will entertain you with fascinating natural and human history stories about the area.
The fine print: Events occur rain or shine, but high winds could cause an event to be cancelled. Heavy spring rains may change certain launch locations. Paddling outings are open to experienced swimmers with a kayak, canoe or other non-motorized boat. Coast Guard-approved life jackets will be available, but boats will not be available for rent. Participants should bring their boat, life jacket, paddle, sunscreen, hat, water, clothing layers depending on the weather and a lunch/snack. Pre-registration is required, and space is limited. For details and directions, please contact Park Ranger Victoria Payan at[masked] ext. 113 or [masked].
Unfortunately, RSVPing on this site isn't enough to secure a spot. Please send me a quick email at [masked] in order to RSVP. Thank you!
