This group is all about landscape photography and visiting spectacular locations to practice this fine art. Group leader Lance Kuehne has photographed the North Bay landscape for over a decade and has taught many workshops on the subject.
Here you will find short and affordable workshops that take place in a single afternoon, as well as the occasional weekend and weeklong workshop. A camera of any type is all you need to participate. You may repeat these courses as often as you like, whether to continue improving your technique, or just to explore new places to photograph. There are also classes that address camera operation and printing skills.
Class sizes are limited so that we can concentrate on photography and ample time is available to answer questions. The venues are chosen to take place at a great time of year for a particular location in order to get the best results possible.
There is a fee for most of the workshops in this group, since most of them include individualized instruction and careful planning of very specific itineraries timed to the seasons as well as the time of day. In addition, there are many free gatherings offered that address topics of interest to practicing photographers.
If you are looking for free outings where you just go out and shoot with others at a specific location, at a specific time, there are other photo groups that will be a better fit.
The field outings for this group is about improving your skills quickly, and taking you directly to great locations to practice landscape photography without you having to hunt around for them.
Lance is an award-winning photographer of the North Bay landscape, and makes his living as a fine art photographer. His work has been sold by The Pottery Barn as limited-edition prints, he published a “Wine Country Calendar” for many years that was sold in places such as Barnes & Noble and Costco. He is co-owner and co-founder of the Riverfront Art Gallery in Petaluma, voted “Best Art Gallery in Sonoma County” for six years in a row. Two of his landscape images are currently published as fine art posters by Editions Limited.
The outings take place in North Bay Area and other parts of the Western United States throughout the year. So if you want your photographs to match the technical quality you see in the galleries, you want advice on camera gear or techniques, or just like being in the outdoors and want to capture what you see in your mind’s eye, you will benefit from these workshops.
In addition to these pre-scheduled workshops, Lance also creates customized workshops throughout the Western United States for small groups of photographers. He also does individual individual or small group tutoring for an hourly fee.
