Sleepy Hollow (Sunday Hike)

http://bahiker.com/northbayhikes/tlshdnorth.html

I recommend keeping small dogs on leash at the start of this hike (~5 minutes) because of the occasional, non-attentive bikers that race around the blind turns. Once we hit the dirt trails (~5 minutes), the incline hills are fairly mellow, bikers are a rarity, and dogs are ok to be off-leash with vocal control.

There are two parking entrances for this trail hike; we will be meeting at the North Gate. If anyone is late and wants to find the group, my cell is[masked]

This is at the far end of Freitas Parkway (exit Freitas Parkway towards the mall, keep going straight to the end of the road). An adjacent parking address is 111 Arlene Terrace, San Rafael CA

This is the address for one of the apartment units that sits by the trail gate. Use directions for here and then grab any street parking spot. The trail gate is 5 seconds from this apartment complex.

Even when the dogs are panting up the hills, this is a chill group! Thank you, Tera & Andrew

Sorry, I didn't see this question in time before the hike. Yes, one can always hike without the pooch.

Sorry this is so late, but with the temps predicted for tomorrow, my 12 and 13 yr old doggies had better not try hiking mid-day.... Next time!

My black, older dog might be better off out of the heat too. Next one!

We're going to stick near the water tomorrow -- too hot up in the hills.

Same with me - shadow is older and black and sensitive to heat.

Sorry, I'm going to have to pass on this hike. They're predicting 90 degrees on Sunday and Cabo doesn't hold up well in the heat. I'll look forward to joining up with you when it cools down a bit.

Hey guys. The description of this hike says total distance 4.45 miles or about that. Then above that it is indicated that you need to re-trace your steps back to the trailhead. So is that distance of 4.45 mi only one direction? Can someone clarify? Thank you!

It is prob total 4.45, if that. You walk up a hill, then do a loop ip on the ridge before walking back down. I'd say it is closer to 3.5/4 miles. Lovely, lovely hike.
