Pt. Pinole (Saturday Hike)

Pt. Pinole Regional Shoreline

http://www.bahiker.com/eastbayhikes/pointpinole.html

Primarily an on-leash trail, with the undeveloped areas being listed as off-leash (based off bahiker.com).

"Parking fee of $5 charged when entrance kiosk is staffed. $2 dog fee." The hike is in the Richmond area. If the Kiosk is unattended/closed (generally its only open during summer), then the parking is free.

This hike is partially off-leash and partially on-leash.

If you get lost or come late to the park, my cell is[masked]-8732. We will gather behind the ranger station where the park map is located.

Notes from last hike here:
1) Though it is great to support the EB Parks, if money is an issue, there is free parking at the detention facility next to the park. This is acceptable by the county and the park.
2) Dogs can be leash free for most of the hike; the only time they are required to be on leash is on the paved areas, which is from the parking lot to the trails. The dirt trails around the 3.5 mile perimeter are off leash.

Thank you for a great experience. Lyndon and I missed Zin. Is she ok?

Vet says her liver is abnormal, but she doesn't show any symptoms of a disease. Have to wait for lab results and then possibly an ultra sound

I have to take Zin to the vet for an unplanned appointment at 9 am, so we will unfortunately not be able to lead this hike. However, this is still a great hiking trail to go to. A park map can be found here: http://www.ebparks.org/parks/pt_pinole#trailmap

All dirt paths (ie no cement/gravel) are essentially off-leash once you cross the bridge near the parking lot. If there is pavement, then the rangers can technically stop you for off-leash violation for the very few sections where you have to cross a paved trail road.
